I'm interested in signing my child up. How do I get started?
Download the application and complete it. You can e-mail it to me or print it out and send it to me by mail.
What if something happens and my child can't continue the assignments this semester?
I am flexible! I am willing to postpone the assignments for several months until you think your child is ready to resume their work. See Pricing for more information on refunding tuition.
How can I ensure that my child will be protected?
Your child's safety is paramount to me. I encourage parents to regularly monitor their child's online correspondence and assignments. Communication between the student and me will only go through approved media. I recommend parents open up a separate e-mail account for their child to use solely for this class. My character references are available upon request.
What grade levels do you work with?
Generally, I work with grades 9-12, although I can work with older students past high school as well. The age of the student is not so much of an issue as is their knowledge and writing ability. However, any child ages 14 or under MUST complete the assessment test to qualify. The assessment is optional for those 15 and older.
How do I know if my child is ready?
I offer a free assessment test. I will assign a writing project and then review it to see whether the child is ready or not for this program. If they are not, I will give some suggestions on areas they need to improve in.
Do you work with students who aren't homeschooled?
This would need to be evaluated on a case by case basis. The work load during a semester would most likely be too much for a student to reasonably handle on top of another English course at their school. If, however, you do not feel your child is being challenged in writing, I would be glad to work with them.
Do you do SAT Essay prep?
Yes, I do. If you specify, I will work on the area of timed essays to prepare your student for the college SAT exam.
Do you work with adults too?
Yes. I am available to work with older students/adults.
